NYCE Motion Sensor Series - Delayed activation

Hi.
I've installed a NYCE Motion Sensor and using Motion and Mode Lighting apps connected it to turn on an adjacent light.

Most of the time it works reasonably well with 2-3 second delay between when I enter the room and when the lights turn on. Sporadically it will take 10-20 seconds and rarely the event never triggers at all.

How should I go and diagnose this inconsistency? This is currently the only motion sensor I have so I can't contrast it to other vendors.

Thanks!

My first thought is to split the problem in half. First, is the sensor behaving as expected? Second, is the light behaving as expected?

Depending on your settings for logs, this would be a quick way to observe their interactions with the hub. Your findings would then help to isolate next steps.

That is likely caused by radio interference and/or a bad repeater. You've mentioned this is your only sensor. How many mains powered Zigbee devices do you have connected, and also do you have any Zigbee bulbs?

Thanks!
In all the logs I could find there are only a couple of MS between the sensor reporting motion in the log and the light turning on, these two seem very closely aligned.

I'll dig deeper into this separation - the delay isn't consistent so it's difficult to diagnose.

Thanks!

The house is pretty densely populated with fixed Enbrighten zigbee switches. Those should act as stable power repeaters.

Make sure to enable the logging on the app you use, it should tell you when it receives the event from the sensor, when the command is sent to the switch, and how long it takes for the switch to turn on. What makes you think that the delay is on the sensor and not on the light?

Also, check this document for ideas on what to look for when troubleshooting latency:
