Nuki Locks connecting by matter

I have a number of Nuki Pro locks gen 4 and 5 which connect perfectly to C7 hubs using a driver connected to the nuki web api over wifi. Thinking about how to improve this to make it a purely local setup and understand the matter over thread v matter over wifi problem between the 2 systems. I am considering using the Aqara Smart Hub M100 as the bridge device and using smartthings as the lever to get the code so HE can play. Has anyone tried this or am I missing more parts to the puzzle? Does anyone know how much this would extend battery life? Is this worth doing or am I just making life more complicated? Value the advice of anyone that has tried this or recommendations of a better approach. Not an apple person and hate voice control so none of those devices work for me...

I have a Nuki 4.0 lock (non-Pro) working in Hubitat, using the inbuilt 'Generic Matter Lock' driver. I use HomePod Mini as a TBR, but the Aqara M100 should do the job as well!

You should be able to get a new Matter pairing code from the Aqara Home app, so no need to involve a third hub (SmartThings), although you can pair it to both HE and ST at the same time.

The battery life of my Nuki 4.0 was terribly short when I got it an year ago, but the latest Nuki firmware updates fixed that issue. Currently the firmware shows version 4.8.1
