I am selling my home and moving abroad. I have 138 devices and would like to abandon them all but leave them usable. Basically, I want to reset them all so the new owner can choose to use them or not. Is there a nuclear option or do I need to address each device individually? Has anyone done anything similar? I'm at a loss as to where to even begin. I know I can simply leave but would like to see them go to use should the new owner be interested. Thanks for any info and/or suggestions.
I am running a C7 with all automations driven by Webcore.
You need to discuss this with your realtor. Broadly speaking, if you show something in a functional state during the selling process, you cannot deactivate it by resetting it.
I chose to remove all my smart devices and replace them with dumb devices. Except the ecobee thermostat, which I registered to a throwaway email address, permitting the buyer to do with as they pleased.
A factory reset of the hub will wipe all automations and allow the hub to be re-registered. All of the devices could be re-paired with the hub by the new owner if desired but will need to be excluded first (can be done by the new owner).
Could also look at changing the admin of the hub to a new email address (thus preserving all automations and functions) and turn over the email account to the new owner.
