Rather than a traditional keypad, I was thinking of attaching (velcro?) an old smartphone on a wall and using dashboard shortcuts and and others like camera icons.
Essentially creating a keypad touchscreen.
Not in use, local Wi-Fi only and can stay plugged in. Yet the battery serves as a backup.
It's a thought and was wonder if anyone else has tried this.

I had ordered a couple of Arduino parts for this that I have now on sale (on hubduino post) with Dasboard 2.0 coming along.
The idea was to use 2 ESP01/ESP12 with 2 LCD 1 for keypad/HSM and 1 for Urgent notifications
