This... @toffgar, post your router brand/model and folks can help you get the DHCP reservation for your hub set on it. That will at minimum remove one key variable (IP address) and could end up just solving things. Knowing how to set DHCP reservations is just a good thing to know how to do in general to manage your home network.
Well for good or bad and with the help of all of you and dr. Google i changed my router to reserve the ip for my hub. After a router and hub reset everything seems to be working.
Stay tuned I'll mark my calendar and if a week goes by without a failure i will update that it is fixed.
Thanks
Gary
Glad you got the DHCP reservation set. Many of us use reservations for any home automation hubs we have in the house, for RPIs if we have any, and other gear you want to have on a consistent IP, like maybe phones or computers, Google Home or HomePods, etc. Up to you how OCD you want to be about it. I set reservations for all my networking gear (gatewayrouter, APs, switches, IoT wi-fi gear, etc. Like knowing where to look/ping if something is not working as expected.
If you notice any additional network connection issues w/your hub, use the network reset option on the bottom of the hub, that will clear any network settings on the hub so that it will play nicely w/your router/APs.
Network reset button is the only round hole on the bottom of the hub, has a recessed button you press for >7s. The hub will then reboot and come back up and reconnect using whatever network settings you have configured on your router.
If things "just work" you don't need to worry about it.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. Things that just work are some of my favorite things.
I guess it has been about a week, and as promised i have a update.
There have been no service interpretations so i guess it is fixed. I think that our router is dieing, it is occasionally disconnecting from our streaming box, this is a mutch lower annoyances.
Thanks for all the help.
So it has been most of a month and this condition has reoccured. All symptoms the same solution the same. Very annoying when we are away because there is no remote access and seemingly no solution until i get home to reset the hub.
