No neutral z-wave or zigbee light switch Canada

Hello!

I am on the hunt for a zigbee or z-wave on/off light switch (it is in a location where I cannot change the bulb, and as a renter, cannot run a neutral wire) that is available in Canada for a reasonable price. Aqara has a light switch but I really don't want to spend the time wiring it in to find out it won't work well with my hub. If you know of anything, please point me in the right direction!

Thank you

I’ve been very happy with Inovelli’s Blue Series Zigbee 2-1. It is a dimmer and a switch in one that can work without a neutral.

They had some issues with part of the first batch which they resolved, and are supposed to have their 2nd batch ready for sale at some point soon.

You will not find a no neutral "switch" because a switch by definition (or code?) must turn OFF. Sounds obvious but dimmers (when used without a neutral) do not turn OFF. They draw a small current through the load which then acts as the missing neutral.

Yes, but the light is not emitting light, so as far as I am concerned as the user, the light is off. Aqara also does have an on off switch with no neutral that doesn't have dimming functions. I assume they use a battery or something when its "off" but I don't know

How about a Sonoff ZBMINI-L? My home has no neutrals and these work great. I use a Zooz momentary Decora switch in this application.

I second Inovelli. I have an old house with no neutrals. I have installed Inovelli Blue switches and they are working fine. ( I don't have a strong Zigbee mesh - I had to use a Centralite to get them paired - no issues so far)

Lutron has a no neutral switch. At least that’s how they label it. Can handle up to 5amps which most or all dimmers can’t.

I see. I guess they felt a switch could still have leakage current and still be called a "switch".
