Newbi info needed

Hi guys. I have been running HA for 2 years now with much pleasure, but sometimes the wifi just goes down for no reason. I have heard that HE does not need wifi to operate. I have 70 Sonoff devices and they all need wifi to operate, but 8 of them are important with no failure tolerated. So my question again, will HE C8 work without wifi? And 2condly, how is the reaction ti e of zigbee motion sensors on the HE C8 I realy want to buy it but also dont want to waste my money as i already wasted money with the rubbish iHost i bought.

Hubitat itself requires either a wifi or ethernet connection to be of any value other than keying other devices on/off.

Hubitat Zigbee - Z-Wave response times are very fast.

To avoid issues with any local control platform, you need to determine the root cause of the wifi issues. Hubitat uses wifi directly for local control of wifi devices.

I'd seriously recommend looking into a decent mesh-style wifi system. I personally use the tplink omada.

I too have a huge number of WiFi devices. One standard router (in my opinion) just doesn't cut it, and in my experience leads to exactly the symptoma you describe.

Horses / courses.

Bingo.

Hi, yes i have an Asus router connected to my HA. I also have 3 wifi 3xtenders that connects to the router with network cables. They are in the 3 most furthest places of my home. They work fine with no problems. So lets says the wifi from the supplier goes down, does the HE still controls all its devices, and for how long?

It's up to the driver for that device. If it is written to stay local then nothing needs to get beyond your local network. You need to find the correct driver for each of your device (types). In general, Hubitat doesn't use wifi, although exceptions exist. Perhaps more importantly - why do you think the problem is HA?

Hi good morning. I dont think/ dont know if the problem is HA, i just want simething thats not cloud based and stays local. I am NOT computer savvy and therefore wants it local. A friend of mine installwd HA on my laptop and he is from another town. So if something goes wrong, i am screwed.

Are all your Sonoff devices Zigbee or WiFi ?

If the devices use WiFi for communication, you can not use them in Hubitat. Except if all the 70 devices have their firmware flashed to Tasmota.

Ooooh. They all use wifi. About 15 of them are zigbee.

Do you have a Sonoff hub?

With the WiFi communication, you are tied to this particular brand. I think that only Home Assistant has an integration for Sonoff LAN hubs.

The 15 Sonoff Zigbee devices should work OK paired directly to a Hubitat hub.

If your WiFi network goes down, and your sonoff devices use WiFi, then there’s no way for them to communicate with anything. Not home assistant, not Hubitat.

It doesn’t matter which hub is at the other end because your WiFi devices can’t work without WiFi. Period.

Unless I have misunderstood your setup and the problem?
