New Yale Assure Lock 2 (YRD420) C-7

Just got a new YRD420 in preparation for a move.
I have it added (Z-wave) and it's using the Generic Z-Wave Lock driver.
Problem though is that it doesn't seem to do anything - no lock/unlock.

Very green with HE so not exactly sure how to diagnose this.

The pairing appears to be incomplete (most notably it's missing the security info) I would recommed un-pairing and try again. If it still has issues you may need to pair it closer to the HE.

What my data section looks like, although my lock is ZW700 so it may look different than yours. Also MAKE sure you pair it with security, it won't function without it.

Not with Yale but Schlage I struggled with Z-wave locks, never gave 100% performance. Traded it all in for a Yale Zigbee and it just works, zero issues. If you search the community, you'll see many similar stories. Return the lock or get the zigbee module for it.

You did run through the initialization right? Where you set the master PIN, etc.

Funny you mention that..... :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

During the setup process, I got to that point and misinterpreted the steps and ended up skipping past it. I didn't see a way got back a step...only to go through the whole process again.
Is there a way to do that at this point? Or do I have to repeat the setup again?

[EDIT] Just ran across something that says if it's an Assurance 2, that there isn't a Master PIN, there is a programming code...and I can find that code in the Yale app.

Schlage locks are notorius for being problematic, in fact I think they were removed from the official compatibility list. I wouldn't assume it's a Z-Wave lock issue, many of us use them with excellent results.

The Schlage I think are what got removed. Unless they Yale did also? I had zero issues with mine.

@hoopyfrood42 what zwave module did yours come with? Zw2 or ZW3? The newer module supports S2 and smart start is why I ask.

You won’t need the master pin/code to pair unless it is required to get into the menu on the device to start the pairing. On the hub side of it uses S2 security you will need the DSK Or smart start. It f it is the zw2 module it uses S0 security which does not need a code to pair.

For the lock itself if you think you botched the setup you would have to find how to do a full factory reset on the lock. Some of the functions on the lock are sort of separate from the zwave module.

AFAIK Yale is definitley still on the supported list, they're excellent locks.

You guys are probably correct. The schlage soured me and I moved away from z-wave locks. The Yale has been fine tho. Glad to hear the feedback on the Yale Z-wave tho.

Looks like I got things resolved. Did a full factory reset and setup again. Things seem to be working correctly now. Thanks for the assist!
