I have to give credit where it is due, Ring has made a good looking video doorbell. Like thats a button i want to push. I kinda want the reviews to say the hardware sucks or the specs are less then perfect so i have a reason to double down on a fully local doorbell… but just look at it. I’m probably wrong.
I had the original Ring Doorbell Pro (Gen 1) and upgraded to the Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (Video Doorbell Pro 2) and have no complaints after 5 years. I use the Unofficial Ring Integration & IFTTT for HE motion and doorbell ring -> Integration.
I have a Broan Nutone Model C500 Chime Brass Tubes doorbell, and the Ring does not integrate to simultaneously activate it when the Ring doorbell is activated. I knew this when I purchasd the Ring and made the decision to disconnect it from the front door.
I have Alexa speakers throughout the house, and they announce whenever there is motion or a package left on the front door area or if someone rings the doorbell. I would love to upgrade to the newest Ring Doorbell Pro model with an enhanced camera and style, but since everything is working as I expect with my existing unit, I shy away from replacing perfectly working items.
Yeah, simular boat. I’ve been with ring for a very long time too and have been very happy with them. My current ring doorbell while old, works great with my mechanical doorbell and all the automations. I know it’s gonna need to be replaced… eventually and i was really hoping to choose a local doorbell when that sad day finally happends and was willing to put in the work to redo my setup.
Ring is making it really hard to want to do that considering my investment into their ecosystem with the only doorbell cam that doesn't look like its still going through it’s “awkward period”.
$250.00!!!!!!
Is it gold plated?
That’s the same price i spent on it in 2016. I think i’ve gotten my moneys worth out of it. Prob be a good idea to wait till prime day next year … assuming the reviews come back good.
I’m in the same boat. Have 2 Ring Pro’s, one of the latest, and one generation before then. Also have a few of the other cameras and it is all working great with the hubitat integration. I’ll certainly think about this new one… Like the 4K idea…
I really want a new 4k Spotlight Cam, but they don't offer "wired" yet, which is so odd.
