New iOS app unsupported devices

Why are some of my devices listed as unsupported on the device page of the new iOS app even though they are installed and working fine?

"Supported" here means in the context of the mobile app. They are not supported for viewing or control in the mobile app, as you can tell by the fact that they do not show any of their current states (like on/off for a switch) or let you control them (like unlocking a lock or turning on/off a bulb). To be extra-clear, this does not have anything to do with your ability to view or control devices on the hub itself or with apps/automations you have set up.

You can use the three-lines menu in the upper right to "Hide unsupported devices" if you want to revert to the old behavior. This is a recent change made due to some people's confusion over the fact that the mobile app only showed devices it "supported," and then they thought the devices just weren't on their system at all. This is a compromise for now; you'll see fewer and fewer of these as the mobile app expands to actually support more device types.

Got it. Thanks

not supported in the mobile app? some of my devices unsupported are temperature sensors - nothing complex - I find it difficult to believe they'd release an app that couldn't display a temperature... something else must be going on...

Believe it! The old Hubitat mobile app also did not support temperature, humidity, motion, or contact sensors. Of course, the user can easily create a Dashboard with these sensor types, and view that within the mobile app as a workaround.

Hubitat has stated in other threads that they are working on adding more device types to the Mobile App's "Devices" page. No ETA, though.

They didn't. You can use the "Dashboards" tab to display whatever you want by creating a dashboard.

But yes, as a few of us have mentioned above now, the "Devices" tab on the new app does not currently support temperature sensors. It's mostly geared towards devices you can operate (actuators) at the moment. The plan is to keep adding more, so eventually you'll see fewer and fewer or none of these--but for right now, that's the way it works. All the confusion above seems to stem from the fact that this is a recent change and previously they were not displayed at all, a behavior you can still revert to if you prefer (either way seems to be confusing for some--and it's not unrelated that the long-term plan is to "support" more devices on this tab).

Thanks for this info. I thought this was indicating that the devices would no longer be supported by the hub, and was panicking as I envisaged having to buy scads of new devices! It would have been better to change the phrasing to something different than “Unsupported”. Like “App support pending”.
