New Hub (c8) - Smartthings Contact sensor

Hi,

I am migrating from my C4 hub to new C8 hub.
I've added 3 Samsung Smartthings Motion sensors (zigbee) just by rejoining.
I have another Smartthings Motion sensor , but this one is a little different , it has a CR2477 battery instead of a CR2450
It was using "Generic Zigbee Motion sensor" driver on the C4 hub.
When I try to join , this one is not detected by C8 hub.
What might be the issue ?

I increased the power to 20 and channel to 20 (from 21)
now it is detected.
What does that mean ?
What should be the power in fact ?

now I have another issue with another Smartthings Motion sensor.
It is detected and temperature changes are updated. But status (active/inactive) is not updated.
why am I having so much issues with these Smartthings sensors ? they were good with my C4 hub

Did you shut down and unplug your C4 before plugging in and migrating to your C8?

Varies by home design/construction, devices in use, etc. I'm running at power 8 and all of my Zigbee devices connect via repeaters, others have success at higher power levels.

Best channel is determined by your local Wi-Fi channels in use (you and neighbors close enough to interefere). You can use the Unifi mobile app called "WifiMan" to check your local Wi-Fi channels vs. Zigbee channels. Don't want Wi-Fi and Zigbee sitting on the same channels...

Since migration from C4 to C8 is not easy I am either turning on C8 and C4 off or vice versa.
I'Ve replaced batteries and now motion sensors are OK.
I've also migrated all off my Zwave devices.
All is working.
Except, there is a contact sensor (zigbee) which is identified but does not report closed/open states.
I also replaced its battery, but still there is this issue. What can I do ?

I removed it and trying to join as a fresh device.
Hub detects it, but does not go beyond "initializing"

I made it rejoin to the old C4 hub. It successfully joins.
On the C8 it gets stuck on "initializing"
why ?

The Zigbee radio/chip in the C8 is 3.0 and there have been some oddities when pairing some older (non-3.0) devices. Lots of posts on a few different devices (I remember the Hue outdoor motion sensors being a hot topic at one point). Have you tried using the "Pair while exchanging keys in clear" as mentioned on the Zigbee add page and factory resetting the sensor before pairing to the C-8?

Tnaks for your suggestion. I tried that option.
But I could not try factory resetting the device. Because I don't know how to factory reset Smartthings contact sensor. I can't find instructions. Do you have any info ?

What's the model?

I don't have a model number. It is from year 2015-2016 , when Smartthings did not belong to Samsung.

it says "smartsense multi" on the back

If you open it there should be a model number on the board

Is it this one? Also completely turn off your c4 and don't bring it back up. It can cause issues with pairing. Set the c8 zigbee channel to 25 and your wifi on your router to 6 or below.

I've set my channel to 18. If I change it now, shall I have to rejoin all zigbee devices again ?

no not that one.

That might be a v4. I have one that looks similar - I think it's a v4. Here are the instructions for the v4.

C4 is off for more than 18 hours now.

According to the instructions shared above , factory reset is same as joining. So it is already factory reset.

That is correct (and seems to be the case with many Zigbee devices).
