I bought a new Hubitat C8-Pro to replace my C7. Since then I have not be able to add my two GE Enbrighten / Jasco Products Smart Fan Controller (model 14314),
Here's what I tried so;
Reboot C8 hub
Unplug C8 hub for 10 min to reset radios (twice)
Factory Reset to Z-Wave Fan Controller (twice)
Swapped Antennas (no change)
Performed a Z-Wave Exclusion (many times)
Performed a Z-Wave Inclusion (many times)
I'm starting to think my ZWave Radio is dead. The C8-Pro is still within warranty. Any ideas? Replace the Hub under warranty? Replace the two existing ZWave Fan Controllers to a Zigbee Fan Controller (Inovelli Blue Series Zigbee Fan Controller). ~~$150
Thanks for any insights. Are there isssues with zWave on the C8-Pro Hubs?
You start with "to replace my C7" without telling us if you're doing a migration, or starting fresh. In other words, if the migration is done, then are all the other ZWave devices working and it's just this one? OR, are you starting from scratch and this is the first inclusion attempted?
You say you did several Exclusions, without telling us they were successful. You should see the "Unknown device excluded" message. If not, then verifying the ZWave region on both the hub and Fan Controller would be an interesting result.
I have two of those devices on my C-8Pro. BUT they were migrated in, not explicitly Included.
Does nothing related to this. Oversimplified, the button flips the hub back to wired Ethernet. Affects nothing else. The power off is the magic
Switched a GE switch (not fan) from one hub to another recently and was having problems getting it to exclude/include.
Turned out all it took was a single Up Tap while running Z-Wave Exclusion on the hub to get it to exclude properly.
Then all was fine.
Plus on a similar device I used to have, there was an alternative exclusion method that could be set by parameter. My recollection could be faulty though.
A little back story... A few weeks ago I had 7 of my Wyze White (2019) bulbs quit on me. They turn on/off in the lamp, but were no longer controllable via WiFi, or Google Home (voice control). So I decided to replace all of my Wyze smart bulbs with bulbs from Innr. Well, these Innr bulbs were awful. Pairing took repeated attemps to get them into my C7 but then they refused to import into Google Home.... Google Home simply refuse to import them and ignored them as unsupported. Then I had 3 of my Nyce motion sensors stop detecting motion... they'd report temp and humidity though. Think the Innr bulbs were Zigbee 3.0 and the C7 only did Zigbee 1.2, I thought updating to the C8-Pro might help. The migration went OK but my two Jasco ZWV Fan Controllers failed to come over and it was clear that the Innr bulbs were working as expected. Next I ordered 8 new Sengled Zigbee Smart white blubs and they paired in seconds and worked great. I replace the Nyce Motion Sensors with new Philips Hue Motion sensors (which also were very easy to configure). So now everything is working except to the zwave fan controllers. I was able to successfully "factory reset" these, but I cannot get them to be found in the inclusion process. The exlusion process never reported "Unknown device excluded". I bought a couple of the Inovelli Blue Zigbee Fan Contollers, so I hope that fixes that issue. It's been an expensive month for my "Smart Home".
I started with the Migration Process and none of the ZWV stuff migrated. I tried migrationing several times. Then as a last resort I "factory reset" the C8-Pro and setup up like new. Still no ZWave working.
Just got off the phone with Jasco Customer Service.... After spending an hour trying everything they could think of, they finally resorted to sending me out two new ZWave Fan Controllers!
The first suggests the Migration worked and you had at least some working ZWave on the C-8Pro. The second says migration never worked. Both can't be true
The migration failed to bring in my two Zwave fan controllers. At this point it’s unclear whether the zwave radio is dead or that both zwave fan controllers are dead. GE/Jasco agreed to replace their fan controllers. I’ll test them once I get them.
I have a pair of Innovelli blue zigbee fan controllers arriving tomorrow. So hopefully that resolves the ceiling fan issue.
Update: I received new replacement GE/Jaso ZWave Fan Controllers yesterday. Today I coneccted them.. They're still not being included in my Zwave network.
Now, I'm convinced that there's something wrong with the C8-Pro hub. I suspect the zWave radio is dead. Hopefully the new replacement hub fixes my Zwave woes.
I replaced the ZWave Fan controller with some new Zigbee Inovelli Blue Fan Switch and they just work, pairing took less than a minute and setup was a breeze. So now, I can talk to my ceiling fans once again.
I returned the C8-Pro hub and I will get a new replacement.
I fired up the C7 and I was able to connect the two older GE/Jasco Fan Controllers and the two new GE/Jasco Fan Controllers and they all paired easily. All four of these GE/Jasco Fan Controllers refused to pair on the C8-Pro.
I think it's clear now that the ZWave Radio on the C8-Pro is dead.
I originally had two ZWave GE/Jasco Fan Controllers which failed to come over during the migration from a C7 to the new C8-Pro.
GE/Jasco sent me two new GE/Jasco Fan Controllers and they also refused to connect to the C8-Pro.
I can connect all four GE/Jasco ZWave Fan Controllers to the C7 without any problems.
I initiated a return via Amazon, inorder to quickly get a replacement. I never considered filing a warranty claim as the C8-Pro is less then a month old.
I thought this was working with support. Is there another level of support that I'm missing?
Today I replaced the Hubitat C8-Pro and now I have a functioning ZWave network.
I had to sign-up for a "Cloud backup" trial to backup my original C8-Pro, during the backup it failed due to Zwave issues. I disabled zwave and the cloud backup completed. Then I shutdown the original C8-Pro and restored the cloud backup to the new replacement C8-Pro successfully.
After re-enabling ZWave, I was able to include all four of my GE/Jasco Fan controllers.
