Had to upgrade to gen 4, so trying to use matter and have the following problems:
Can not detect or set ECO
Can not detect fan modes or control the fan. Driver doesn't show any supported thermostat fan modes.
Is there a user version of the matter driver available?
This is the nature of Matter and thermostats. It’s very basic with controls. I’ve got the same one connected via Matter to Apple Home and Hubitat. You can only command temps and modes (off, heat, cool, and auto). I think this is fixed in Matter 1.4 but you need the device to be upgraded first and then the commands exposed by the Hubitat Matter driver.
If you want all those commands, you’ll need the community Nest integration ([RELEASE] Google SDM API - Nest integration).

I was already using sdm api, looking to get ride of cloud dependency. How do I see the matter release version? Also,the driver has buttones for fan but they just don't work.
To my knowledge, Google does not make it readily available. Based on searching, it looks like the device is on either 1.2 or 1.3. See Matter 1.4 could improve the Nest Thermostat, adds more devices for information about what 1.4 will eventually bring.
This is because Google does not expose the fan as part of its matter implementation. We just get the basics of temperature and modes.

Not a bug. This is a limitation of what is exposed to Matter by Nest thermostats.
