It's very unfortunate that Hubitat will not give me control of my hub for factory reset... I have to wait for tech support (that I can't find a link to) must allow me to do it.
Before the bad comments come in, I bought a new one and installing old one at a friends house, so I don't want to keep the devices. So requesting it here... and guessing it's support@hubitat.com and will also wait for support to allow me to reset my hub
The solution prevalent 2 years ago is not the current solution. The solution these days is to reset each of the two radios and then do a soft reset to wipe the config.
I clicked the Search Icon and typed full reset and got the answer on the first offering.
The only part that may require assistance from staff is if you want to purge the logs. I believe that feature is still being tested so they prefer to hold hands for that. It's a beta version of the diagnostic tool that is needed to do this.
That is not in the official documentation nor an official Hubitat solution as I can see ( I don't belive ambassador is an employee, could be wrong).
I will follow those steps and also wait to hear back from Hubitat..
I believe they should have kept the hard reset under the diagnostics menu, that would be an official support and not a work around that someone had to come up with.
I appreciate the reply
There is no reason to do a "full reset" in your case. Just reset the radios, un-register the hub from your cloud account if you registered originally, and do a soft reset (including the option to clear logs, which is public, not beta, now).
This is documented in a section here: Soft Reset | Hubitat Documentation
The full reset was removed for a reason. People would have a minor issue, and instead of asking for help, or doing basic troubleshooting, they would immediately do a Full Reset. Then they would come here complaining because their hub was permanently wiped, and there was no path to recovery.
It was just safer and caused less headaches all around to remove that option. You can still perform all the functions of a Full Reset without having that single dangerous button as noted by the people above.
Thanks everyone... still needed tech support to unregister...
I still stand by my opinion..
Where do you draw the line?
No side loading apps do to security, for an example.
You can go to my.hubitat.com and deregister the hub yourself.
No intervention from Hubitat Support is necessary.
I just deregistered a hub that I sold about two weeks ago. It does not require any intervention from tech support.
I did, tech support had to step in as it wouldn't go away. Maybe because I have had mine in use for years.. idk
Would be happy to deregister the original user off of my new/used hub on my own but I'm not seeing how that is possible in the link provided. Did they remove that option recently? Looks like I'm getting recommended to contact support to make that happen.
That link can only be used by an original owner to deregister their hub, which can then be given to someone else or sold.
Gotcha. Downside of that detail is that if someone got in over their own head with one of these devices and returned it to Amazon, the likelihood of them being willing/able to perform that action is pretty low. I did PM both the support team and bobbyD, just hoping it can be reset while I'm at work tomorrow so i can get to tinkering.
Hubitat Support has mentioned a few times Amazon is supposed to send all returned hubs back to Hubitat, and not put them up for sale.
