I'm looking for a sound sensor, preferably zwave. The situation: we have impact windows. When my wife is on the balcony she can't hear various alerts in the apartment -- most serious is the loud building speaker fire alert, but also a beeping stove timer, doorbell, etc.
I have only found sensors tuned to smoke detectors, and I already have a zwave smoke detector integrated to Hubitat.
I've had some success using my Amazon echo Dot, but it relies on wifi and I'm trying to avoid such reliance. I've found a chime/alarm device to put on the balcony wall, but so far no luck with a flexible sound sensor. Any suggestions?
Not sure you’ll find something capable of that in a relatively simple and inexpensive z-wave or zigbee sensor device.
Like you, I’ve seen sensors that are just smart enough to detect the specific pattern of smoke/CO detectors, and I’ve also seen sensors that detect glass breakage.
But to have the smarts to listen and analyze every sound in the environment, picking out the ones people would consider to be important and rejecting all others, I believe that requires more processing power, and why Amazon echo devices need an internet connection to function in that capacity.
