It would be great if there was an option for Time global variables. In SmartThings and WebCore I used global variables as time conditions for fixed times of day like:
Awake-Weekday
I am sure I can create a condition test for these times and set a global "flag" and then clear one minute later, but would be nice to decouple the condition check for time so it can be used for conditions.

Time and Variable Math
With build 2.1.0.116 Rule 3.0 gets another feature addition: the ability to perform math operations and comparisons on Global Variables. Also, it is now possible to set the current time in seconds or milliseconds of Unix Epoch Time.

I am new to Hubitat and evaluating it as a replacement for my current hub. But, with my current hub, rules are written with code, so they are very flexible, and I am wondering if anyone can help me to replicate my lighting rules in Hubitat.
All of my lighting rules are mainly controlled by motion sensors, but don't have a fixed timeout. The way I have it setup is that the rule for the motion detected turns on the light if off, and sets an "Off Time" variable. Then a separate rule runs every minā¦
Add "Time" (e.g. HH:MM) as a Variable Type
Use case: I would use this in my Lighting automations and within rule restrictions (I don't use sunset or sunrise as these rely on cloud). This would be super useful particularly in the UK where we observe daylight saving times each year. If such a feature existed I could change one GV value instead of editing many rules twice a year.

No, not for every action. That doesn't make sense either. But one of the things that I am struggling with now that I have a lot more rules is that when I want to change something, I have to go into 20 rules to change it. That's really tough to manage. But if we were able to keep things within the same rule, then you only have one to go into. My example with the light for example, if the contact sensor for the front door changed, that would be 3 rules I have to go into to update rather than ā¦
Just fishing for ideas on this.
I have a morning alarm sequence set in RM that is triggered at a specific time. If I need to alter the alarm time I just go into RM and adjust it and save the rule again. But ideally I would like the alarm time to somehow be adjustable through a dashboard control so that SHMBO can adjust it too. I was thinking about maybe somehow using a virtual dimmer level or a Global Variable, but before I put too much thought into it I wondered if anyone has already done somā¦
