The UPS would have come with a USB cable that is Type A at one end and Type B at the other. You'll need that to connect the RPi to the UPS for battery level monitoring. "sudo apt-get apcupsd apcupsd-doc" and set to go!

No. It'll have to be USB Type A for the RPi end - the RPi doesn't have any Type B ports. The power-monitoring port on the UPS is a Type B port - its right next to the power cord (looking at the photos on Amazon).

APC used to include them with the UPS - I guess they stopped doing that ...
