I just want to say Thank You to the Hubitat team for the architecture to allow multiple hubs. This is the number one reason I am on the Hubitat platform.
I currently have 3 hubs and have an additional 4 on order! Most hubs will only have a few lights on them and a sensor or two, and I plan on linking all to one master hub.
My overall Hubitat system spans multiple buildings, including two rental houses that are over a mile away.
Not automatically. You could pull the Zigbe/Z-Wave stick(s), move them to another HE hub, and then restore a recent backup from the original hub. This should get everything back up and running again. I havenβt tried it, but I believe others have mentioned that this works.
I would be more excited about multiple hubs if you could share/transfer ALL device types. No thermostat or custom/complex multi-sensor device support is problematic for how I would segregate things on multiple hubs.
So my 2nd hub is my development hub, which is still very useful!
I have multiple hubs for multiple buildings. Zwave won't reach since it's very limited on range, but all buildings are on the same LAN - using UBNT radios. Us folks in the country like to have lots of small buildings:) Longest link is a bit over 1 mile to some staff housing.
For example restrooms, minigolf kiosk, gift store, pole barn, etc.
Sorry for the late reply. All buildings are line of sight. Farthest is some housing, about a mile away. We use Ubiquity radios (non-license) to connect buildings. Everything is on one LAN.
Even buildings that are close to each other have ubiquity links. I don't like having wired ethernet outside due to lightning and ground loops. As a side note I once had a nearby lightning strike induce a voltage spike on the metal protective cladding of our fiber line (internet). It fried the telco equipment and our firewall. There was a burn mark on the port! I like to tell people that lightning hit our fiber line and destroyed our firewall
