Motion sensitive light bulbs for the basement and front and back porch

I have kids who tend to leave the lights on in the basement.

So I am looking into smart light bulbs, which are motion sensitive. And also for the front and back porch.

I also would like to be able to switch them off from a dashboard, hubitat. Or use Google or Alexa.

I looked into a few motion sensitive light bulbs, but they are too sensitive. They would go on when I just walk upstairs
I want to save electricity, and if they go off when I am not even in the room, that would defeat the purpose.

What is recommended?

I am not aware of any motion sensing smart bulbs that integrate with Hubitat. They possibly exist, but cannot be very common.

Ideally you would use a motion sensor along with a smart light switch and dumb bulb. That would allow physical control of the bulb along with automation capability. You could still use your phone or Alexa if desired, but that wouldn't be required.

A smart bulb can also be used in conjunction with a motion sensor. In my opinion, a smart bulb is less than ideal as you would always need an Alexa, phone, button device, or similar to operate a bulb, and it isn't as intuitive for visitors and even normal usage of the household. Many people are used to walking into a room and using a light switch which is in a standardized place.

There are many rules engines in Hubitat to make the motion sensor activate and/or turn off a smart switch or smart bulb. I would start with Basic Rules, and if you need more complexity (and after you are more used to the platform) try Room Lighting.
