But, many times the brightness will change and the temperature will not, or the opposite, or neither of them change.

There may be issues with the drivers for your RGBW bulbs. Color temperature in particular for some devices doesn't work well with both temperature and level being changed more or less at the same time, in quick succession. We are aware of this problem, and are working on a fix for it.
