When a light is controlled by a simple Motion and Mode app and I turn it on or off with Alexa how and when does the light go back to being controlled by Motion and Mode?
It depends how the automation is configured.
Is this a hypothetical question or do you have an instance of motion/mode app configured?
If you can share a screenshot, that might help explain what you’re looking to do.

This works fine as is.
In general, the light should turn back on the next time motion is detected.
But in the “options for activate, disable and enable lights-on” sub-menu, there is a toggle switch not to turn lights on if turned off manually, and a toggle to “clear” the disable on your hub’s next mode change.
