Monday Morning Network Blues...GRRR

Got up about 3 this morning to use the facilities and noticed the hall night light, matter device, didn't come on with motion. Glanced in the office and the hub light was blinking green/red. Hummm. Decided it could wait till later. Got up for good a little before 5 and still things not working.

Noticed red light on router. But modem seemed to indicate internet was ok. Couldn't access the hub or anything else on my network. Tried to call ISP but they don't get up that early apparently. Connected my computer directly to modem with ethernet cable. Had internet. By this time I'm on my second cup of coffee so was thinking a little clearer. Didn't help.

Long story short, turned out my ethernet switch had gone bonkers. Lights on it were blinking like they should, but... I swapped it out with another and now all is fine. Only took and hour and half. I really had other plans for this morning... :smiling_face_with_tear:

EDIT: forgot to mention. I didn't get the alarm turned off and by the time I got things working I totally forgot about it. Went to let the dog out... You guessed it, all hell broke loose. Not the least of which was the wife being rudely awaken.

I believe this is the hub’s way of reporting that it failed to get an IP address with DHCP.

Whatever went wrong with the switch took the whole Ethernet down. I’m just glad I had a spare.
