Mode Manager issue

I just got home at 6:23 pm. According to my settings in Mode Manager, Evening mode should have been set. It set Day mode instead. I'm going to monitor to see if Evening mode sets at 8:08 pm (current sunset for my area).

Just checked that I did indeed enable logging. Yes, it's on. I also went and double checked what the hub actually had as sunset time. Here are the logs from the time something SHOULD have happened.

Show your System Events log. See if the sunset event happened. Also, look at the App Status page (gear icon). You should see an Event Subscription for "sunset". That's how it works. The hub throws a system event at sunset, and that fires Mode Manager.

System Events, left side main menu just above logs.

By the looks of that 1 am change to Day mode, am I correct in thinking that it seems to have stopped there? That change was not done by any automation or interaction. It would also explain why I was seeing odd behavior from Thermostat Scheduler.

I hate not fully understanding this stuff. I strive to learn as much as I can about things I dive into hobby wise.

I don't know what's going on. Suggest that you remove Mode Manager and make a fresh install of it.

@bravenel Is it normal that the value for sunsetTime shows a date that is two days in the future? I ask because I just checked this morning and sunriseTime has a similar value. This after a fresh install of Mode Manager.

Did you take this screenshot contemporaneous with your post today? If so, sunrise and sunset have today’s date, as they should.

Yes, the bottom entry of sunsetTime is from yesterday and is dated as such but in the value column it shows 2021-04-01 which would be tomorrow (two days from yesterday).

Yes, If you're in the Eastern Time Zone (US). Sunset time for tomorrow is actually the day after in Zulu time.

OH! See that is what I didn't understand. Thank you for explaining.
