Moca 2.5 adapters $35. (Gocoax rebranded)

Good price for a new adapter.

happen to know the speed on these? 10/100Mbit?

Moca 2.5 is 2.5 Gb.

But I believe the adapter lan port is 1 Gb. So that will likely be the limit, unless you have a number of adapters, as the 2.5Gb is shared between all moca adapters on the moca network.

for product comparison. i'm actually using these and they're solid. unfortunately don't need anymore atm, but for anyone who is considering a moca adapter, they are solid

Thanks for that. Found this, of which I had no idea so many standards existed, although not surprised, it's tech

I use a number of bonded 2.0 adapters currently and can get 500Mb/s+ sustained all the time.

I ordered six of these 2.5 adapters, so will try them out next (and sell the 2.0 if the 2.5 work as they are supposed to.

Thx, please keep us updated. Also try and keep 1 2.0 connected. There conflicting reports to if you need all 2.5 to see the benefits

I'll try to test w/a 2.0 still on there if I can make the time. Long term the only 2.0 I would likely leave on is a tivo mini, so that isn't a particularly useful device to test with.

Yes is is. There’s conflicting reports. Some say if there one moca 2.0 anywhere, the WHOLE network reverts to 2.0 speeds. Even actiontec has conflicting information on this. I emailed them and they said if I had one moca 1.0 adapter my whole mocas network would be 100mbps despite the rest being moca 2.0

I am 100% positive that is not true, as I did that testing when I went from 1.0 to 2.0. And Even with a few 1.1 adapters on the network the 2.0 to 2.0 connections were definitely faster than 1.1 speeds - by a LOT (5-10x).

EDIT: Well I should never say "100% positive", as I'm sure some edge case somewhere will prove me wrong. When I tested it with my adapters it was not true.

Thx

Just a data point on speed:

Got the 6 adapters in today. I'll try a couple out after dinner.

OK Here are some iperf3 results, one set from my laptop to desktop and the other from desktop to laptop (with a Ubiquiti UniFi US-24 switch in between).

A couple of notes, though...

As this is a rebranded model, the admin page is on a different IP address from the gocoax, and the user/pass is unknown as far as I know. Meaning, you can't update firmware (not even sure if the gocoax firmware would be safe to install anyway - and Frontier certainly doesn't release them).

And since you can't get in the admin webpage you can't setup encryption/security (so make sure you only use it point to point, or have a MOCA filter on your incoming coax to your house!!!).
