First time my MS13Z (3-way switch) connected as the Zooz Double Plug and it showed several security connection options in the discovery/setup. I accepted the default answers and continued.
When I saw it was discovered as a plus I then did the exclude from my z-wave network, (the device was excluded as an unknown device).
I have done a factory reset on the MS13Z.
Each time I discover it it is still the Zooz Double Plug
My Minoston smart plugs have been detected as Zooz Double Plugs also. Must be something about the manufacturer and the fingerprint. In any case, you can change the device type. Just go to the device's page after including it and:
Go to the Type dropdown in the Device Information section and change it to "Device". This is an ULTRA-generic driver.
Select the Save Device button, then refresh the page in your browser.
Select the button labeled "Delete All Child Devices" (because if it gets found as a Zooz Double Plug it likely added 2 children to it you cannot delete normally). If it does not have any children, skip this step. Then refresh the browser page.
Go to the Type dropdown in the Device Information section and change it to one you think is correct for this device. You might want to try "Generic Z-Wave Smart Dimmer" if you do not have a more specific one in mind.
Select the Save Device button, then refresh the page in your browser.
@snell - Thanks for the quick reply and easy to follow steps.
I did as you directed and then used the:
"[[Beta] Advanced Zwave Plus Metering Dimmer]"
Device Driver supplied by @jvm33. (Awesome first experience creating a User Driver due to your very good documentation.)
It is all working fine now in the HE.
But I still am not able to add it / see it in Aleksa.
Is there another step that makes it so the Aleksa app can discover it?
You would need to go into the app on the Hubitat and enable that device. On mine I just had to go into the app, hit the "Selected Devices", select the device, then select the "Update" button. Then "Done" with the app.
My Echo usually immediately detects the change but sometimes I need to tell it to perform a "Device Discovery".
Thanks for the support. It turned out that I had made a rookie mistake of having both the "Amazon Echo App" and "Amazon Echo Skill" applications loaded. As soon as I dropped the "Amazon Echo App" and the included the device in the list of devices in the "Amazon Echo Skill" it showed up in alexa almost immediately.
It is all working now as expected.
I have recently purchased this switch, and I cannot get it to connect to the hub at all. I have tried numerous include/exclude sequences with the hub and switch together, but I get no indication that the hub is seeing the switch at all.
I have tried doing a reset sequence on the switch, but it does not flash the led on the switch as the manual says it should after a reset. I donβt know if the reset on the switch is working properly.
I have even tried wiring the switch with a power cord and placed it on the same table as the hub just to see if close proximity to the hub will make a difference. The switch led flashes as it should for the include/exclude modes, but the hub never picks it up.
Is there anything else I can try with the hub or the switch to get them to connect? I am getting to the point where I might have to try to return the switch and try a different brand.
You might have gotten a bad one. It happens for anything. I would say shoot Minoston's support an email detailing what you tried and asking for recommendations. They responded quickly to me recently when I emailed them after Christmas (I got a plug as a gift but it had the wrong actual plug on it, a straight normal plug not their flat 45 degree plug, but it worked fine otherwise I was just letting them know about it).
