Ministon MR40z

Is it me or do these scene controllers look incredibly similar to the Zooz zen 37s?
I know many companies rebrand other manufacturers products.
If the same. Worth considering at 15 dollars cheaper per unit.
But having said that. Zooz does have great customer support.
Just wondering.

They use the same OEM I believe. From past devices, the outer shell will be the same. The hardware/firmware may not be. You could have less features, or have different settings from the Zooz device, which may in turn prevent drivers made for the Zooz from working correctly. The button presses should be picked up no problem since that is standard z-wave specs. But its all the configuration that may not work right.

I believe I read somewhere here that the ministon uses regular 2032 batteries while the zen37 uses a rechargeable (user-replaceable) battery.

It’s been a while since I’ve looked at these. Im looking again. Any forum members have a chance to try these?
Be interested to see if they work well with HE.
Just moved into a new condo. No neutrals at the switch and absolutely no room to fit in a relay behind the switch. I changed most of the bulbs to zigbee. Now that I have color options I’ve used the few zen 37s to control the lights. Button 1. Toggle on / off. Button 2 cycles through colors. Button 3 dim up. Button 4 dim down. Want to buy another half a dozen scene controllers. And these are quite a bit cheaper than the zen 37s….if they work well.
Cheers. Mac

I have one MR40Z in service for 7-8 months. Initially, I had trouble pairing using LR and just went with mesh (as documented here).

It has the simple job of toggling on a lamp when I need to video conference in my home office. For that, it is a decent tool. The plastic is glossy and shows fingerprints readily. I have not compared to the Zooz flavor, so I can't say if it is better/worse. I do rather like the rechargeable feature on the Zooz, though.

Didn’t want to take the risk. Pulled the pin and ordered more zen 37s. But think I’ll order a couple next time I’m on Amazon just to try and have in the fun drawer.
Thanks for the replies.

I may have to try a ZEN37. I've been multi-tapping with several ZEN34s.
