How many of you are aware of this "hybrid" screwdriver made by Milwaukee? I wasn't until yesterday when I found a YouTube video about it. Evidently, it is designed for the screws in light switches & plugs as it is a combo flathead/squarehead that fits perfectly in the screws in those devices. I have always used a phillips head. I currently don't have anything I need to install/uninstall so I can't justify buying the screwdriver now to test it but I am definitely curious.
I just keep both on my toolbelt... (well 4 types. Phillips, small sq (forgot the size) for outlets and switches and larger sq for electrical panels and a flat head.
I always use a "stubby" screwdriver with outlets & switches -- for those applications, it's just easier for me to maneuver than a long-neck driver.
But both my go-to stubby and long-neck are switchable-bit / ratcheting Milwaukees -- they make a nice screwdriver!
Same. I just feel there's so much less likelihood of a slip that causes me to stab my palm with a "stubby" screwdriver.
Like @rlithgow1, I keep this, square, Phillips, and flat screwdrivers in my tool bag. I really like the ECX. It keeps the tip located like a Phillips or square and gives me the torque of a flat blade.
For casual DIY electrical work, you can often get the same result using a square bit in the center of an ECX-type fastener. Although many of the cheaper electrical devices these days come with Phillips-only screws (no full-width slot).
I'm assuming this is the video you watched, or something just like it?
WINNER WINNER!!!!
