Migrating to c8 pro from c7

Just wanted to say it was the biggest non event ever. I ordered the hub last night after I got the sales email.

Got it today, installed it 10 minutes ago. If I spent 30 minutes on the new hub end to end I'd be surprised. Had to update my old hub and do the backup. That took the longest.

I have a bunch of zigbee and wave. Lots of automation. All works well!

All devices seems to work fine. Really a non issue to do this migration!

Just sharing :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Good to hear, we don't usually get feedback when things go right. The staff has made a lot of improvements to migrations (and other features) in the past year or so.

Its so rare to hear from users when things are working. Just wanted to give some kudos. It shows that the team put effort into it.

UX is still a bit too primitive for what I desire but functionality is great!

So true. Do you know what happens to my Iris V1 devices on my C7 when I migrate? I know they are very old, but they are just really solid

Hmm...

They migrate just fine. As long as you don't have to pair them again, or pair a new one, they keep working for the most part. There is no Iris pairing button in the C8, the chipset just can't do that for some reason vs migration.

I keep my C5 around for my LAN integrations, and the Iris V1 that I want to add as new, or if they won't re-pair after a battery change or something like that. Just Hubmesh them back to my C8. It is an easy workaround.

I think your C7 would work the same way if you wanted to keep that for the Iris and memory intensive integrations, or those picky old devices of any protocol that just don't play nice with other devices (certain Zigbee bulbs?).

I may be naive... Thanks for the link!

They do.

In my case I decided to just leave mine on my C7 and share via hub mesh to my C8, since I was keeping my C7 online.
