Hi - I'm trying to migrate my backup C-5 to a C-7 that was given to me. I don't have Hub Protect on the backup C-5, so I was going to do the "migration". However, when I go to "Backup and Restore" in "Settings", the option to create a cloud back without Hub Protect says " Send a backup to the cloud and later restore it to a C-8 Pro or a C-8 Hub".
Does this mean that I cannot I restore to a C-7? Thanks for your help
Yeah I think the free migration tool was introduced with the C-8, possibly as an incentive for people to upgrade who did not already have hub protect. Also, the Zigbee migration only works fully on a C8.
Thanks - just did it and it seems to have worked. I don't have any devices connected to the backup hub - just apps and some virtual devices, so not too concerned about the Zigbee migration. My primary hub will be migrated to a C-8. Thanks for your help
In that case a local backup / restore will work for a migration. You only need the cloud migration to transfer the z-wave and zigbee radio data.
Yeah - it was more for a ”practice” run before migrating the primary hub. It worked out in the end.
