I have a C-8 hub that is playing up and have purchased a new C-8 to replace it. I'm trying to migrate from the old hub, using the 'Settings->Migrate Hub' option on the new hub. Unfortunately it doesn't show any of the cloud backups for the old C-8, just the backups for my C-7 hub.
How do I migrate from a C-8 hub to a C-8 hub ? Local backup doesn't have any devices, and I have over 100 Z-Wave & Zigbee devices on the old hub so reregistering them all is not an option.
Thanks.
I’m not sure this is possible. Free migration backups in the cloud are intended for use when upgrading an older generation hub to a new one.
This is the scenario that the hub protect service is meant for. Except the replacement hub is free, assuming a defect in the first hub is confirmed by support.
What makes you think your C8 hub is defective? A hub that’s “playing up” could have several underlying causes that have nothing to do with hardware failure.

The old C8 won't add any new Zigbee devices (as a workaround I add them on the C-7 and use hub-mesh) and recently its started dropping Z-Wave devices and won't add them back after factory reset.
Hub-protect seems like a red herring - why should I be able to migrate a C-8 with a C-8 when I pay for extended warranty, but not be able to migrate it when I pay for a whole new unit.
Thanks for replying.
That does sound like it could plausibly be related to the hub hardware, although not necessarily.
If you want to troubleshoot, consider checking this post and then include the info requested here.
I disagree. Cloud backups have always been a part of the hub protect service since it was released. It’s one of the perks of the (optional) subscription, along with the hardware replacement in the event of a failure (but the cloud backups can be used independently of that specific scenario).
Hubitat staff decided also to offer a free cloud backup when migrating from an older generation hub to a newer generation hub.
But not for any migration between hubs of the same generation prompted by a hardware failure.

Right, I pay for hub protect and have purchased a new C-8 so I can use the cloud backup functionality provided with hub protect to migrate to the new hub. Simple question, how do I do that. I'm just trying to use the functionality I pay for in a reasonable way - restore a backup to a new device.
Oh I misunderstood then. Sorry. Just restore a C8 cloud backup that’s previously saved. It’s not a migration backup.
If your C8 is actually defective, then you paid for a new hub unnecessarily. The free replacement hub is part of the subscription.
