I have two hubs in "production". A C-8 Pro that runs all Zigbee and Z-Wave comms and rules. And a C-7 that runs all LAN integrations like Ecowitt, LifX, Kasa and a dozen more. I have a C-8 that is sitting as a spare (was replaced by C-8 Pro) and I've been wondering if there's any good reason to migrate my Aux hub from the C-7 to the C-8. Everything is working fine, but I'm too stupid to leave well enough alone, so I thought I'd ask the opinion of my fellow HE enthusiasts.
There are no differences with memory and cpu with the C7 and C8, only radio upgrades. Given you use your C7 for only LAN apps, I donโt believe you will see any benefits.
I used to have 4 production hubs based on protocol (zigbee, Zwave, lan, and apps/coordinator). When the C8 Pro came out I combined the 4 into 2 where I have a radios hub, combined the Zwave and Zigbee, and coordinator hub, combined lan and apps. The radios hub doesnโt run apps at all and all are meshed to the coordinator. I have around 200 radio devices and 380 total devices on the coordinator. The C8 Pro hub upgrade helped a lot with memory and CPU and less headache managing 4 hubs.
Yeah I agree, for what you are using it for the C7 is perfectly suited.
