I just started with He a couple of weeks ago and have really messed things up I think. Everything was working fine and then it started falling apart.
About a week ago I started having problems with a switch not responding or responding slow. I removed it from the hub by doing a zwave exclusion. Now when I try to add it back HE sees the switch and gives a message saying Found a Z-Wave device, initializing... time runs out and nothing connects. If I click the Exclusion button the same message pops up and times out.
I think that what is still showing on the Z-Wave page (Line 2 of attached)
#2 A Z-Wave motion sensor stopped responding to HE (The light on the motion sensor is responding to motion). I swapped the motion sensor out of its rules with a virtual switch and removed it through the device page. Now I can't get it to join back I think that it w
hat is showing on line 3 on attached.
#3 The device labeled Lab has stopped responding . I haven't tried anything on that other than clicking Refresh.
How do I get things straight?
I am afraid to remove anything else and be stuck with dead switches.
First thing I would do is power down the hub totally, and unplug, wait 30 seconds and power up. When the zwave radio gets really in a bind this will reset it.
Also looks like you have to unpaired "ghost" devices, should try to get rid of those.
Pull power from hub at the wall (connector on hub may be a little fragile)
Wait 1m
Plug back in
Check out your Z-Wave Details page after above, and things may improved. All devices need to have info in the last column, the Route column. If they don't, they need to be fixed.
For any devices that don't show routing in the final column:
If they have a "Replace" button, reset the device (e.g., reset the "Lab Light" switch) and then put the switch back into pairing mode and then select the "Replace" button on the Z-Wave Details page. This should allow you to replace the bad pairing w/the same device, this time hopefully w/a complete pairing.
If the device has a "Remove" button (but no "Replace",) select Remove and hopefully the device will be removed. Then you can re-pair it.
If that doesn't work (won't remove) then you can reset the device, Refresh the device listing on the Z-Wave Details page until a "Replace" option appears, and try the Replace process outlined above.
The no route is fine it should populate once it gets sorted out.
The ones with the discover button looks like failed pairing unless it is devices that did not fully pair.
You can try the discover button see if it picks up a device, otherwise you need to get rid of those.
To get rid of them you can hit refresh and then it should get a remove button. May need to refresh a couple times before the remove shows up.
Lab light looks good but does not respond to the device page or rule. Removed it and the other 2 problem devices and none will pair back to the hub. 2 GE paddle switches and an Enevwave ceiling mount motion sensor.
One of the GE switches gets founds by HE but gets stuck at initializing and adds it to the zwave page with the same info as before: OK and refresh as status and Discover in Device column Tried to exclude them with my ST hub and nothing. Tried to add them to ST and nothing again.
If you haven't already, try turning the switch off/on manually and see if anything shows in the device events. If there is a problem with the routes, this will sometimes help the device find a route to the hub.
You could also enable debug logging on the device page and see if anything is logged.
If these steps all fail, you could try excluding and reincluding the device, but I would recommend fixing (or removing) the other devices that are not fully paired first.
Likely 0x0C didn't pair properly and caused the ghost at 0x2B above it. Physically disconnect that switch from power then hit refresh on the ghost line till remove button appears. Click remove. If it doesn't remove, shut down hub and unplug power (from wall not hub) for 5 mins. Power back up and try remove 0x2b again. Once that is done, power up 0x0C again.
Success! I was able to remove the devices with issues but was not able to add them back to the hub until I removed AC power from the switch as per rlithgow1s instruction. The 2 GE/Jasco switches rejoined the system without a problem. The Enerwave to a couple attempts to rejoin and finally did but 18hrs later it still is not reporting any events.
I'll remove it and try again this evening.
Looks good though there are a lot route changes on 0XD (Lab Motion) Maybe run a repair on the individual node to see if it can get a better route but overall looks good.
It failed the first 2 attempts and completed the repair on node 03 with the 3rd try. That increased the changes from 42 to 43.
A 4th attempt completed repair and changes remained at 43
Right.... eventually that number will reset and hopefully go to 0 or low 1's 2's. If it continues high like that, install a beaming repeater like the Ring v2 Extender then exclude and reinclude the device to force it through the repeater. You can never have too many repeaters.
A reboot is what resets it. After troubleshooting like that I will often do a reboot just to reset all the stats and then watch it for a few days to see if what happens.
