Memory usage after backup/restore "soft reset" vs. actual "soft reset"

We've been told (IIRC - I've searched the forums but can't find it) that a backup/restore combination does an automatic "soft reset". I'm not so sure...

My free memory on one hub was at "294,720", so I decided to do the b/r combo to bump it back up. After the restore and reboot, it read "475,100". I tried a second restore from the same backup, and wound up at "465,460".

OK, time for the big guns: diagnostic, soft reset. After the reboot, "local", and then restore - again, from the same backup. This time: "644,600".

Whatever kind of "soft reset" the backup/restore combo does, it does not appear to be as complete a "soft reset" as actually selecting "soft reset".

Not sure who on the staff to tag this to, but I found it interesting.
