Matter stuck on "Starting"

Hello,

I am trying to start Matter and pair my first Matter device. I have already paired the device in Apple Home and obtained the 11-digit code. When I try to add the device in Hubitat, I enter the code and click "Start Pairing," the screen quickly appears to refresh but it does not change. It wants the code again. If I go to Settings > Matter, I see the status is "Starting" and it never progresses from that. I have tried both soft and full resets which did not help. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Bump. No thoughts? Still an issue after upgrading to 2.4.3.137.

Did you put that device into pairing mode?
On a battery powered device simply remove the batteries for a few seconds, on a mains-powered one refere to the manual.
May I ask what kind of device this is?

If the OP has already commissioned the device through another matter controller and used said matter controller to generate another matter code then they will not have to put the device into pairing mode when using the newly generated code in HE.

This is different from what I experienced so far, especially for battery powered devices, but thanks for the correction, will have a closer look at that in the future.

I am glad you say that about battery devices. All my devices are mains powered devices so you very well may have a point if the device is battery powered. I can't speak to that. If the device is battery you may be on to something and the OP may need to try it.

Yeah, that's why I was curious about which device the OP uses.

I did try pairing mode. The devices are two Nest thermostats. They are supposed to be able to be entered into Pairing Mode through Google Home but it tells me it cannot generate a pairing code. So instead I added them to Apple HomeKit and then tried to pair them to Hubitat through HomeKit. This fails. I'm thinking the issue is with the Hubitat and not the devices themselves because in the Hubitat settings > Matter, the Matter status never moves from Starting.

maybe go to settings and try shut down unplug power for 30 seconds plug it back in and reboot and try again? Also make sure you're on the newest firmware for the hub

Actually, I feel, but this is just a gut feeling, this could be related to the Hubitat drivers for the Nest thermostats.
I don't own any of them, but I can tell that some time after assigning the Nest thermostat drivers to my Eve Home TRV, which seemed to work well at first glance, my entire Thread network broke down and none of my devices, regardless if it was a Nanoleaf bulb, lightstrip or an Eve power outlet, became unresponsive, in GH as well as in AH or HE.

Just an observation, I am not a Thread / Matter specialist at all.
But maybe see also this thread.

I am having the same issue. I did a hard factory reset so there are now no devices or applications on the hub. I've tried everything I can think of and Matter still stays in status: starting. I'm totally flummoxed and ready to quit.

Hardware: C-7
Platform version: 2.4.3.137

Has anyone figured out a solution on this? I'm having the same problem - Matter stuck on "starting," and there is no "Fabric ID" showing at the top Matter details page.

Hardware: C-7
Platform Version: 2.4.3.173

I have the same problem, matter "starting", no fabric id, C-7 hardware, version 2.4.3.176. The matter details page shows the IPv6 address assigned by my eero router, so I don't think that's the issue.

Tagging @support_team from Hubitat to make sure they are aware of this issue.

Looks like they've solved it, @ajardolino3. Fix coming in 2.4. 4.
