Mains powered zigbee sensors - PIR & Climate

This is a very good mmWave radar, in my opinion it is even better than the Aqara FP1! I have two similar sensors and they are working without any failure for about a month in my apartment.

This is the use for presence sensors.
You have to translate it and see it.

All products that look like this are the same. You can find a cheap product.

This really is a good approach and I wonder why POE capable sensors aren't starting to be as prevalent as everything else that's able to go that way now, including lighting.

I think the good-to-go-right-out-of-the-box lure of battery powered devices is just too great of a marketing draw. It all is peachy until you have 25+ devices/sensors. Yes, new battery technology and power efficient devices are going to improve the picture....but still, how many households find just changing the smoke detector battery a hassle. :grimacing:

I was also looking for a mains powered PIR (waterproof in my case) but couldn't find anything and ended up making one myself.

I got a cheap dumb PIR and a Sonoff zbmini (though I'm sure any smart relay/binary sensor would work). The theory was that a dump PIR simply closes the circuit, so it could pretend an analog light switch that zbmini supports. However, there is one caveat - all dumb PIRs I could find don't just close the circuit, but also put mains voltage on it, so that you could hook them up to a lamp. This has the potential to fry the smart relay that only expects a no-voltage closed circuit.

Luckily, the fix is pretty simple, though you need to be comfortable (and qualified in some legislations) with modding circuits, since this could potentially kill you and burn your house. That said, the PIR internally has a basic relay and just connects the live wire to it to power your bulb. Disconnect it and drive another wire from it to the smart relay and that works like a charm.
