Mains PIR to z wave module wiring help!

Evening,

Wiring gurus…..what have I done wrong!? Or will it not work with this device?

Trying to wire a mains pir into a nano aeotec switch. Was hoping that when the pir senses movement it feeds this into the module and turns on switch 1 for movement and off again. I’m trying to get better outside detection that’s more reliable and doesn’t run on batteries

Any ideas?

Difficult to see from your photo and we don't know what colours you've used in the PIR. But on the PIR you will have a permanent line (live), a switched line and neutral.

The permanent line & neutral to the PIR will be common to the L & N on the module, while the switched line from the PIR will go to S1.

Yeah that’s what I’ve done power for the module and live and neutral for the pir go to the l and n then the switched live (black) goes to s1. So there’s nothing else I’m missing? Thanks for the quick reply!

can you show a picture and wiring on the PIR side?

There’s just the 3 wires to the pir which go neutral - grey, live brown and then switch live black.

The pir powers up in its current form and also clicks once movement is sensed it just doesn’t seem to trip the switch on the aeotec module

Go into the device page on for the Aeotec module and check that the module is configured correctly. In the preferences you'll want the switch configured for toggle. With the PIR timer set to minimum, and lux set to daylight, you should see it change in the current states panel when you trigger it.

If you want to prove the module without the PIR first - connect an old switch between L & S1 on the module, operate it, and check that against the logs/current states.

Double checked everything and it’s all set up right. Must be something to do with the sensor I’ll try a switch on it tomorrow and see what the outcome is and let you know

Trace the wire from the PIR light load wire to the PIR sensor. This is your trigger wire going to the Nano Aeotec S1.

So it seems that the Steinel PIR that i was using isn't compatible ended up buying the cheapest sensor i could find instead of the most expensive and it works a treat! Looks like the Steinel had some sort of feedback on the switch wire preventing the module from working
