I have some Lutron Caseta dimmers and switches. Using the Lutron app, I have a Lutron schedule that at a particular time turns some dimmers/switches on, some off, and some change the dim level.
Apparently the user can’t specify the sequence in which the devices are turned on/off/dimmed within a single the Lutron schedule. So what sequence does Lutron employ?
The Lutron mobile app? (Asking because you posted in the Hubitat "integrations" category, and if you're doing things on the hub, you have full control.) Their docs don't say, but I'd assume it's everything at more or less the same time, perhaps in some imperceptible arbitrary order.
Is there a reason you need something specific? If so, doing this on Hubitat instead could probably get you there. Sharing more information would help.
I’m referring to the Lutron mobile app. Sorry for the confusion due to incorrectly posting under the integrations category.
I would like to know if Lutron has a particular sequence for turning switches on/off within a single Lutron Schedule, or is it “arbitrary”?
I have a family member who would like to make changes to the schedule from time to time, so I prefer to use the Lutron mobile app since it is relatively user friendly. I think it would be a little more complicated for the family member to use Hubitat to adjust the schedule.
All I can find are their docs above, which don't say, but you might have better luck posting on their forums or other support channels if it's entirely a Lutron question. (I suspect the intent is for everything to happen at basically the same time, with whatever actual ordering being arbitrary and likely imperceptible over ClearConnect -- not that different from if you just tell Hubitat to control a bunch of devices at once, say, in the same rule action.)
But I still wonder: if you created a schedule to do multiple things the same time, why does the order matter? Would it work better to create multiple schedules where you can control the order, like something at 12:00 and something else at 12:01?
Honestly, I'm having trouble to see where Hubitat is involved here at all. I'm also wondering like @bertabcd1234 is, why order matters, and if it does, why the Lutron schedule doesn't turn all the scheduled lights on at once for the scheduled time. Order shouldn't matter, and the order should be mostly imperceptible, unless there is some long delay between each device command, like greater than 500ms or even seconds.
