Lutron Pico button cover

I really like my Lutron pico buttons that I have in place of regular wall switches, however, they can be difficult to operate in the dark. Are there any options, or ideas on a stick on "cover" that would extend the top and bottom buttons so that they could be easier to discern in the dark? I have been thinking about some adhesive clear squares that are made as cutting board feet, but wasn't sure if anyone else has ventures down this road before.

I saw a pic once of a glow in the dark star next to a switch and I thought.. I have a bunch of those and added one next to some switches that needed. I aligned it to the center, but if they are small enough, you could just stick them on the buttons. Or, if you're mounting the Pico's with a Decora surround, certainly could put a glow in the dark right on it.

I have a full Lutron Caseta/Pico installation in my home now...so I understand what you're talking about. My solution is to use a combination of Zigbee motion and contact sensors to fully automate the lighting so we don't have a need to find the switches. This is a continuous work-in-progress, and takes some special thought for areas like bedrooms, where you don't want to wake up your spouse in the middle of the night...

I was thinking about these for the on button -

Just a tactile feel for fumbling through the dark...

Those make perfect sense to me! Our hands all have a muscle memory to know how to find a light switch without even thinking about it. Having these little bumps for the On would really enable that again.

I am really surprised that someone doesn't make a stick on button cap that compliments the pico and gives it the raised tactile feel. Hmmm... sounds like another reason to invest in a 3D printer...

In my experience, there are only some rooms where you have problems with operating picos in the dark. For those, I use the Picos with night light, like the PJN-3BRL-GWH-L01

I didn't know that was an option! If the light is powered from the battery, then how does it affect battery life? Else-If it is not electronic, then is it photo-luminescent? End IF.

Sorry, I feel like I live in RM4 and it is starting to affect me!

I like the idea of the night light option, but I would have to be in the room to see it. A tactile On button would allow me to reach inside the room and feel the on button... maybe a combo of both...

Is the night light fairly bright and what degree of angle to see it? Some of these type of things I have noticed are very dependent on visual angle, so in front of the night light it is bright, but to the side it is fairly dim.

I have my Picos, that aren't mounted on the wall, on their pedestals so I always know which way is up.

I know what everyone is saying about the lack of feel on the Lutron stuff, that is my only minor complaint about them.

I ran across these a while ago, and I have been tempted to try them. They have different colors, 2D/3D, various symbols, plain and glow in the dark.

Those would be perfect, but they are too large for the pico on switch. Something similar in the rectangular shape of the pico would be great! These and a flat version for the other buttons could eliminate the "custom" labeled pico cost as well...

yes, Lutron says 2 years on the battery, and yes it's on all the time...

I just got a pack of those. They are larger than they look.

That is what I was wondering about. Maybe they would do a smaller size if people requested it?

Maybe. Dunno. They're about 1" square, and really designed for traditional toggle switch plates. If you have toggles, they'll be fine, but unless you want to put them on the switch surface or the wall, they wouldn't work well with Decora. I'm still looking for alternative solutions!

Just as a word of warning, those picos with night light are usually waaay more expensive than the standard picos.

Just another justification for a 3D printer. Print some rectangles that match up to the Lutron button, thin double sided adhesive to hold it on... the true cost of HA is hidden! LOL
