Wow.... Just had a Lutron Caseta dimmer fail. Well, somewhat. The down dimmer (button #4) does not work even after factory reset.. Feels normal but the button is a dead soldier. Fortunately it's under warranty so I'll call Lutron Monday.

It doesn't. 1st real failure in 12 years I've been using them that I've had one fail. This particular switch is about a year old...
Sorry you had one fail, but as your post suggests, that's a rare event. I've used them in four different buildings over about 7 years. Never had a failure, which is very different than my z-wave switch / dimmer experience.

Oh not knocking Lutron....Love their product.

It only happened to me once early on before I even had these linked to a Home Automation hub. Their warranty support was great.
I’ve never had an issue since.

Just got off the phone with them good CS. Sending me new dimmer and return label for the old one. Pretty happy
