What are the latest IR repeaters that would work with MR Cool? BTW , IR code 40 works on Remotec zxt-600
I'm not sure there are any "latest" repeaters, but people here generally use Bond or Broadlink.
I have two Broadlink RM4 Minis. They work great with the community local wifi driver, and all codes are stored in the driver and triggered locally without any need to use the Broadlink cloud app after initial setup.
I also have a couple Tuya Zigbee IR repeaters, they are a cheaper option from Ali Express and work great as well and totally local.
Note that a mini split remote is going to send every setting in one code send, so one code will contain setpoint, mode, and other settings. I just capture AC mode with a low setpoint, and fan mode, and then I control the AC via a virtual thermostat and a Zigbee temp sensor in Hubitat, with fan being idle and AC being cool, to always cool with the low setpoint captured with the code for cool.
Great topic here since I needed to upgrade an old HCA/Global Cache powered IR automation system to gain HE control of my YMGI mini-split. So I picked up a Broadlink RM4 Mini ($25 with overnight delivery on Amazon), loaded up TomW's excellent driver and was up and running with my mini-split moved over in a few hours. the only gotcha is needing to unlock the RM4 in it's device settings on the Broadlink app.
