I have 4 Hue bulbs. 3 work fine, the 4th seems to stop responding to commands. If I flip the switch and power cycle the bulb it will start working again for a few days before it stops responding again. I did just notice my Hub and Hue are both operating on channel 20. I changed Hue to 15, but any other suggestions for troubleshooting while I wait to see if the problem reoccurs?
Ok I decided to check right after I posted and changing the channel didn't have an impact
You might want to try changing the Hue Bridge to channel 25. Channel 15 is a highly congested channel in most homes due to 2.4Ghz WiFi, channel 25 is much better. You are definitely correct that HE and Hue should not be on the same channel.
Also, is the non-responding bulb a large distance away from the Hue Bridge or the closest Hue Bulb? This could be a signal strength issue too, depending on the size of your home and signal interference. Adding another Hue bulb in between the working bulbs and the temperamental one could help strengthen the mesh.
Another good practice is to make sure the Hue Bridge isn't too close to your HE, WiFi router, or any other WiFi device.
Thanks, will try changing the channel to 25. It had been working up until recently so not sure what changed. It was happening on ST so I know it wasn't the switch to HE. Wondering if it might have been around when I added an Iris Zigbee plug to act as a repeater for my Hampton Bay Fan Controller
Assuming the bulbs are on a Hue bridge and you’re using the Hue Integration in HE. Try resetting the Hue Bulb that is misbehaving and add I back to the Hue Bridge. If it still doesn’t work, it’s probably faulty.
Thanks for the tips everyone. I changed the hue bridge to channel 25. Will give it a day or two to see if that improves the problem. If not I will try moving the bulb to see if the problem follows it and if so try resetting the bulb as suggested.
So far so good. Looks like changing to channel 25 solved the problem.
