Looking for a multi-plug option for bathroom

Hi,
I looked a the compatible list and did a search here and nothing seems to come up for this.

I'm looking for a multi-plug (not powerstrip) option for in my daughter's bathroom. Basically I want this.

Poking around, it looks like the only driver for this (or one of the very similar ones I found) was Gosund. As I currently have a bunch of Gosund devices that I can't use and will have to replace, I don't want to go down that route again.

I know Govee is supported (I have some of those too) so I could take this route, but would like 6 plugs if I could get it.

Do you mind sharing what use case you have here?

It sometimes helps when you also disclose what you are trying to accomplish.

For example, if you are going to plug a hair dryer into the first thing you linked, I would highly recommend not doing it.

Sure. Simply, there is only 1 2-gang outlet available in the bathroom next to the sink where my daughter does all her "stuff".

Right now, it's at capacity and there are other things she would like to plug in as well (hair dryer, curling iron, flat iron, occasionally a phone charger, etc.)

So first, I'd like to provide that capability, and with a plain jane multi-plug device, that's simple enough. However, as she's a teen, I'm guessing there's a good chance she's going to leave something plugged in and turned on that could potentially cause damage or even a fire.

I know I could put in a smart outlet and just kill the device entirely based on some criteria. What I'd love to be able to do, is control each plug individually. So if I know her Echo Dot is in plug 1, I don't care if that's powered. However, if I know her curling iron is in plug 2, and I know that she's left for school based on her presence sensor, I can kill the power to plug 2.

Agreed

This is why there is only two outlets - you have to unplug one to use another. All three of these at once is sure to cause a fried device or worse. Also, I hope it is a GFI type outlet.

A typical cheap hairdryer pretty much maxes out a 15A circuit, and a pro version requires a 20A circuit. A curling iron or a flat iron are another couple hundred watts each, and it wouldn't surprise me that they would be used simultaneously. You will need at least two 20A GFCI circuits on two separate breakers to use all this equipment at the same time. That is likely the reason there is only one outlet in the bathroom now.

There are very few smart devices that will switch a 20A load reliably and safely, most are rated at 15A or even significantly lower depending upon whether it is a resistive or inductive load, some of these are only rated at a couple Amps. I would not trust any inexpensive smart device, or a non UL listed device for this purpose.

That device you linked is rated at 1875W, which is just the hairdryer alone. But I think they are fudging their numbers a bit as they state 15A@125V, when we often use 120V as the basis of the Watts calculation. So this device is more likely closer to 1800W capacity, and that would be for all the loads plugged into it. Not sure if they used one outlet or multiple outlets (I.E. spread the load about the device) for testing purposes? If they have one relay capable of switching the whole 1800W that is a lot different than if you have 3 outlets that can only switch 600W.

There is a reason that code states that bathrooms have to be 120 20 amp not 110 15 amp and on a GCFI circuit. You don't want to overload a single outlet like that. As for the curling iron, get her one with auto shutoff.

If you want to have 2 outlets plus phone charging capabilities, there are GCFI outlets which also have 2 USB charging ports on them...the total current draw still cannot exceed the rating of the outlet.

Don't install anything that hasn't been tested and certified by UL.

This. I just put one of those in my daughters bathroom. They make ones with two type A and one with A and C.
