We are missing locks as an integration. Any way to add this?
Apple doesn’t allow certain classes of devices paired to certified HomeKit bridges to be exposed in the iOS Home app.
Hubitat is in the process of becoming a certified bridge.
From the hub’s new documentation page on the HomeKit integration:
Weird but Yale has HomeKit enabled locks. Is it the bridge that causes the issue?
Also I have a certified HomeKit bridge for my garage door opener from chamberlain
Those (single) devices work directly with HomeKit.
Hubitat can bridge dozens (or hundreds) of devices. Apple imposes different requirements on that kind of bridge.
Correct. It's Apple. But you can make a virtual switch and export that and then control the "switch" behavior on the Hubitat side.
Not an ideal workaround, unfortunately, because in the Apple Home app, locks are locks and switches are switches.
Locks show up as “security” devices, switches do not.
Hopefully Apple will eventually change their mind re: the current set of restrictions.
Until then, uncertified bridges like Homebridge will still have their place. That’s how I get my Hubitat-connected locks (and garage door opener, also restricted by Apple) into the iOS Home app.
I was hoping to dump my homebridge unit. I will say the hubitat app is much better and faster with HomeKit. I just made a switch and will call it good for now. Moved homebridge to scrypted for video
