Is there a way to create a virtual switch that cannot be toggled on a dashboard? I have two virtual switches that show if the washer and dryer are running or not and I don't want users to be able to accidentally turn them on and off. I want them to only be toggled by the Rule Machine rules I made.
If you are only using them for display purposes on a dashboard, why not use a virtual sensor with a binary state (open/closed or active/inactive) to indicate washer & dryer state? Why use switches?
Just choose the Attribute Template and select Switch in that.
After changing the Tile above from using the Switch template to Attribute template and then selecting Switch, it changed to be:
You can also choose an unused tile type for that dashboard and goto the Template design. Then pick a transparent foreground and background color. Next, add that tile type and place on top of the switch tile. It will block access to switch tile.
This worked great for my purposes. Thank you!
