I'm trying to decide between the Kwikset 916 or 918 as they virtually the same size as the 270 (in fact, just a tiny bit bigger) so no paint problems or the Yale Assure 2, and probably also a black back plate so I won't have to repaint the doors. I've hear the Yale is "better" but the front door its going on is covered on top, that I would say extends about 2 feet or so towards the front and one side, and has a wall on the other side, so only the front (again set in a good couple of feet) and 1 side exposed. We do get torrential rains here in the Orlando area so will get wet some, but the 270 has been there for years with no issues.
BTW, I think the 918 is better as the 916 only has a 500 series Z-Way and the 918 can do long range. Can a C7 do long range?
Can the Yale be that much better to justify getting that and the back plate vs just the Kwikset 916 or 918?
916 is Zigbee, 918 is Z-Wave Long Range (no repeaters needed), but it’s your nickel (err, $200.00).
