Linkind Matter Smart Bulb - Issue

I have two of the Linkind 1600 lumen Matter Smart Bulbs. I love the amount of light they put out (help my 76 year old eyes). However, there are some issues with these specific bulbs - but it may also apply to other Matter devices.

Issue: Loss of control via both Hubitat (Matter) and Amazon Alexa matter instances. Check of wifi shows the devices are both on line.

Fixes:

  • Wait for the device to cure itself (did not do while I slept last night)
  • Reboot the device (power cycle) (possibly reset via any reset button on the device)

Lesson: Not all matter issues are Hubitat driven. This will extend to all devices - do not assume it is a Hubitat issue.

I put in a few of the Linkind 800 lumen variety a few weeks ago and they were definitely temperamental until they (the bulbs) were rebooted after the pairing and configuration.

I agree it might be a good suggestion in future threads to reboot a new device if things aren't perfect at first.

I had similar issues with Nanleaf matter over wi-fi bulbs. after three months of working with them, and being givin a list of seemingly stupid requirements, I was never able to get one (non out of a 4 pack) of these bulbs to stay online for more than 12 hours. The temporary answer was to power cycle them once or twice a day. Becuase this went beyond the return perriod with Amazon, Nanoleaf finally did the honorable thing and are sending me an equal number of the Matter over thread equivilants. I have 4 of these in service for over almost two years and other than a rough patch when I first got them they have been quite stable.

As part of an experiment (and to prove a point to Nanoleaf) I picked up a Tapo RGB matter bulb. That has stayed connected and been quite reliable for over two weeks now and not dropped off even once.
The (seeming) stupid conditions that Nanoleaf suggested were necessary:

  • No other Wifi (and I assume 2.4 ghz) devices within 25 feet.
  • If you have a dual band router, 5 and 6 ghz networks must be disabled. These bulbs apparently can't coexist with those networks active.
  • All devices on the network have to use WPA 2 security. Their bubls cannot coexist with devices using WPA3.
  • They needed to have a static IP set.
  • There were a few other strangely specific requirements that make the bulbs pointless in a modern smarthome.

Summary :
If you are commited to wifi devices, give the Tapo bulb a try. The Tapo bulbs also seem to be brighter.
Nanoleaf Matter over thread RGB bulbs are also a good option (now that they got the kins worked out).

BIG tapo fan here. Worked the community WIFI integration and am well familiar with the Matter as well as Tapo. New Kasa and all Kasa Matter devices are also solid.
