Can someone please help or guide me through a rule? I want to turn a smart bulb green when my garage door tilt sensor is open and then soft white when it’s closed. But only soft white when the bulb comes on at sunset. And then the bulb off at midnight. In other words I want to see this lamp green when my garage door is open. But soft white when it’s commanded on at sunset. Unless the garage is open. Then it’ll change accordingly
Could you describe the logic you want a little more clearly?
As it stands this is my understanding:
12:00AM-Sunset:
Garage door opens -> bulb turns green
Garage door closes -> bulb turns soft white
Sunset-11:59PM
Garage door opens -> bulb turns soft white
Garage door closes -> bulb turns soft white
Not quite , layman’s terms I want this lamp to turn on at sunset and off at midnight. But also notify me if my door is up. Therefore bulb is green if door is up, but reverts to soft white if door is down
I forgot to mention I want the green light to work all day. But the whole thing shut down at midnight. If that makes sense
What precise times do you mean by "all day"? And what does "green light to work" mean?
So you defined what you want between sunset and midnight.
How do you want the bulb to behave when the door is opened between midnight and sunset? Turn green when opened? And what should happen when the door is closed? Turn off or turn soft white?
Ok green light to indicate door open after two minutes From 6 am till midnight. Green light to turn off when door closed. But soft white to turn on at sunset till midnight unless door is open then it remains green. But able to revert to soft white when door is closed from sunset till midnight
I'm sorry that I might appear to be pedantic, but this isn't very clear.
Let me explain:
Scenario 1:
Door opens: Light turns green
15 seconds later the door is closed.
Should the light stay green for another 1 min and 45 seconds and then turn off (or soft white)?
Scenario 2:
Door opens: Light turns green
2 minutes later the door is still open
Should the light turn off (or soft white)? Or stay green?
or is it Scenario 3:
Light only comes on if the door is open for more than 2 minutes?
Mostly number 2. I don’t want the light to illuminate if I open my garage to go to work. Hence the two minute delay. But I want to see green if my door is open from 6 am till midnight. But I also want the lamp to be soft white if I’m home with door shut. Or green if door open. Then just nothing after midnight.
No illumination if door is closed between midnight and sunset the next day
Okay - this should be split into two rules. I'll write examples for you in the next 30 minutes.
Thank you so much. It sounds complicated but really I just want to look at my lamp to see status of door.
Looks good, except two things. When you set the color to be green, you should also set the level (for eg. Level: 100 or Level: 50).
Second, a color temperature of 1000 probably cannot be reached by your RGBW light, and would be very very RED in color. Soft white is anywhere from a CT of 2700-3300, which is why I chose 3000.
Ok I did those row little modifications. But my light indicates the door is shut automatically at sunset.
