Thanks, all, for the information.
I think these are either different from "regular" Leviton switches, or something may be wrong with them. what happens is that when I press the top of the switch for 14 seconds, nothing happens. There is no amber light or red light. If the light is off (the little green light is on) and I press the top, the green light goes off and stays off. After 14 seconds, the light remains off. Tjis continues until I eventually release the switch, in which case the green ligt goes back on.
I also learned something else: the switches in question are master- slave swithes. In other words, there is apparently a "master" switch and the others are connected to that master. There is one master for the kitchen, which is connected to one slave. Another master is for the hallway and is connected to two slaves. It is not currently possible (not without taking the switches out of the walls) to determie which switches are the masters (or what the model number is). I have, however, attempted to reset all the switches figuring that I would find the master switches by top pressing them. They all behave the same way: light goes out, no amber or red light, green light comes back on only when I release.
I am currently looking for more information about these master slave Leviton switches. Does anyone have any ideas I can try?
