Leviton DZPA1-15A not updating state on C-7 or C-8 physical button press (Zwave)

I have a handful of DZPA1-15A outlets/switches. On my C-5 their state would be updated when turned on or off in the dashboards/system.

After moving to my C-7 they no longer do. I can turn them on and off in the dashboard, and then they show the current state, but physically turning them on and off results in no state change.

I've tried the Generic Zwave Switch, Generic Zwave Smart Switch, Generic Zwave Plus Switch, etc...

what am I missing on this??

There's a firmware update available for those devices - maybe it won't help, but it can't hurt.

Using the Generic Z-Wave Outlet driver, when using the physical on/off button on a Leviton DZPA1-15A AC receptacle, HE shows the on/off debug log entries but no events are generated. How do I get HE to generate on/off events when the receptacle state changes using the physical button? Examples of physical button press log entries:

11:50:11.985 debug skip: Hail()
11:50:11.982 debug parse description: zw device: 0E, command: 8201, payload: , isMulticast: false
11:50:11.411 debug skip: Hail()
11:50:11.408 debug parse description: zw device: 0E, command: 8201, payload: , isMulticast: false
11:50:09.820 debug skip: Hail()
11:50:09.816 debug parse description: zw device: 0E, command: 8201, payload: , isMulticast: false

If I Refresh the device, the Current States switch value changes to correctly show the current state of the device. Log entries show info lines that suggest that the driver is polling the device to find out its state, and that works:

11:49:37.073 info LevitonPlug01 is off [digital]
11:49:37.070 info BasicReport value: 0
11:49:37.064 debug parse description: zw device: 0E, command: 2003, payload: 00 00 00 , isMulticast: false
11:49:37.020 debug refresh()
11:49:35.618 info LevitonPlug01 was turned off [digital]
11:49:35.607 info BasicReport value: 0
11:49:35.603 debug parse description: zw device: 0E, command: 2003, payload: 00 00 00 , isMulticast: false
11:49:35.560 debug refresh()
11:49:29.715 debug skip: Hail()
11:49:29.711 debug parse description: zw device: 0E, command: 8201, payload: , isMulticast: false
11:49:19.741 info LevitonPlug01 is on [digital]
11:49:19.738 info BasicReport value: 99
11:49:19.735 debug parse description: zw device: 0E, command: 2003, payload: 63 63 00 , isMulticast: false
11:49:19.694 debug refresh()

If I understand Hail correctly, HE should be polling the device after a Hail to get its changed status, and that isn't happening. The state isn't being changed in the driver by the information sent from the device on a physical button press. How do I make that happen?

Here are some corresponding Z-Wave log entries for the device:

I read in several places that Leviton devices used to work fine on the C5 hubs and that things stopped working when moving to C7 (and C8, which is what I have):

https://community.hubitat.com/t/leviton-dzpa1-15a-not-updating-state-on-c-7-zwave/
https://community.hubitat.com/t/leviton-dzs15-switches-not-updating-status-when-physically-turned-on-or-off/

https://community.hubitat.com/t/hubitat-not-responding-to-one-devices-z-wave-hail-so-device-doesnt-update

Is this on someone's queue to get working again under C7 and C8?

These Leviton DZPA1-15A AC receptacles still fail to generate events for physical button presses. I tried both the Generic Z-Wave Outlet driver and the Generic Z-Wave Plus Outlet driver, Current HE is C-8 / 2.3.6.146.

Is this on someone's queue to get working again under C7 and C8?

I got this .. Will add Hail to the driver

@bcopeland I think there is a similar issue for the Leviton dimmers. I ended up making a custom driver a while back due to issues people had with the system one. After a certain platform update it seemed like hail got removed from some of the drivers. [DRIVER] Leviton Dimmers (DZPD3 / DZ6HD)

@idallen My driver above could probably be adapted to work on the switch / outlet without too much trouble.

In this thread "Leviton Z Wave Plus switches and dimmers are not updating when operated physically - #7 by jtp10181" I found that the "Generic Z-Wave Smart Switch" driver does report physical on/off events properly for the Leviton DZPA1-15A.
(P.S. For the "Flash" command, this Smart Switch driver reports the generated on/off events as "physical" instead of "digital", which seems wrong.)

DZPA1-15A on firmware 1.23 is not updating status with the C7 hub. Tried some of the drivers: Generic Z-wave plus outlet, generic z-wave smart switch, generic z-wave outlet. When Iā€™m on the device edit page, I can hit refresh and it updated immediately but when I operate the switch with the physical button, Hubitat does not update the status automatically.

The device is probably sending the depreciated "Hail" message out when you push the button, instead of the the actual state, and I think HE removed support for that from a bunch of the drivers at some point.

Are you sure the Generic Z-Wave Smart Switch driver is not working? The post right above yours they said it worked correctly.
