Let's talk 3D printers!

Sweet, I’m glad it fixed itself. :+1:

Apple TV has a series called Home that focuses on people doing very innovative, creative, thoughtful, and sustainable things in home design.

Season 1, episode 9 is about using 3D printed homes to help solve the WW housing crisis.

Really interesting to see a home being printed, and the show is very inspiring.

The episode is season 1, episode 9. Worth a look. The people they profile are pretty impressive.

It looks like 3D printed homes are no longer a future tech. I watched this video earlier today.

Slowly slowly... and my lid even fits.
Bed adhesion is being a bit of an issue, but then the coating is a little beat up.
Sure can burn though the hours tweaking.

Noice!, very pretty...maybe time to treat yourself to a new PEI build sheet?

I like how these look, and even my wife even thinks they are acctractive. I was wondering if I could scale on up to make a small trash can.

Right after I print them I screw the lid on and off several times at first to work in the threads a bit, then it comes on/off easily.

That's the same company (Icon) that was doing the 3D home printing in the Home series episode I referred to. Very cool people in that company...they took their 3D printer on an 18 wheeler rig down to Mexico to print the homes on-site. Pretty amazing stuff, and the homes look great when completed.

I've been looking, but of course my awesome deal printer is a strange bird that makes it hard to find parts for. Like the unique Hotend/nozzles and the offbeat 240mm x 280mm bed size.

LOL...Look at the deal I got on this _____!! I think all of us have had that happen at least once only to be bit on the behind due to something similar.

Wow, you're right, nothing obvious pops up...closest I found. Have it shipped to @dJOS and he'll cut it down w/a diamond saw (c'mon, we all know he has a diamond saw somewhere!).

Or just us as-is w/a little overhang.

Ooooh, so hard to resist their marketing.

There may be 5-10mm deviation... If not mind it, just buy it.

LOL...yeah, that could use some editing.

But on the bright side since the SV01 has your same bed size, so you're in good company.

I wish. That's the print size.
SV01 bed is 300x250 vs 4Max 280x240 so you're right about some overhang.
Probably not the best idea as the bed goes up and down on mine.
Well, just down during printing.

I've got another OEM on the way, when it gets here I'm thinking of upgrading the old one to 235mm x 235mm. Seems to be lots of options for that size.

Or.... I may just put it on buy and sell and start over.
Think my wife would notice if it morphed into a Bambu?

Depends, is she unable to see at all?

I think one way or another you deserve an upgrade. I've been watching your posts here and any reasonable Santa would have you on their "Nice" list.

Has anyone seen that different colors within the same brand/type needs different temps/flow calibration for the same print quality?

Yep, I find blue ABS needs different settings to white - basically the colours are additives and can affect the filament print requirements.

PLA, not as much, but other types more so.

Yeah I found some dark blue petg required the crazy high temp and the high flow ratio to print cleanly, while some gray PETG is pretty much fine with the default settings. Glad I’m not crazy!

Good enough for the etc. etc.

Bed Scraper

Switched to SuperSlicer, it has an actual profile for my printer, seems better.
